Bath does feature at the top of my list mainly for its Georgian architecture and flowing Georgian terraces.
I had not visited bath for a few years , but the lasting impression I had of the City was not disappointed on my recent visit.
It was a glorious day and the bath stone stood out in the mid day sun , and the shops and offices blending subtlety behind the stone facades.
The town centre is seems largely untouched from its Roman Roots, updated throughout the centuries sympathetically creating a timeless town centre which blends into 21 century retailing.
Bath just works as a city centre, even the traffic does not cause a great problem.
Don’t get me wrong the tourists are bus in and out at some rate but once again the streetscape seems to have adjusted to make allowances for modern transportation. The scale of the buildings along with the scale of the streetscape makes an historic town compatable with 21st century living.
Bath is my number one town and it is hard act to follow. but lets see
